Gaining Weight Without Any Reason? These 5 Hormones Might Be Responsible

Over the course of time, a woman’s body has to go through a lot of changes which can affect the overall weight that includes the hormonal changes. It is not limited to the healthy food that can help a woman to maintain a perfect weight. There are numbers of symptoms of hormonal imbalance which include food cravings, slow metabolism, indigestion, and low energy levels which add to the overall weight of the body.

Hormones are the important part of the body as they control different activities which make it even hard to shed the weight caused due to the hormonal imbalance. They are the stubborn fats and there could be various reasons behind the weight gain which includes stress, age, genes, and poor lifestyle choices. With time, the weight gain due to hormonal imbalance can even lead to obesity related issues and there are number of hormones which are responsible for the unwanted weight gain.

Thyroid – Thyroid is a gland which is present at the base of the neck and generally produces three types of hormones, T3, T4, and calcitonin. These hormones regulate the metabolism, sleep, heart rate, growth, and brain development of the body. There is a condition called hypothyroidism in which the gland produces the hormones that lead to weight gain, depression, constipation, fatigue, high blood cholesterol, and slow heart rate. If you are one of them that are suffering from sudden weight gain, consult with your doctor as the condition can easily be detected by a simple blood test. To prevent the condition, consume iodised salt, and eat well-cooked food which is rich in vitamin D and zinc.

Insulin – Our body has a small gland known as pancreas which produces the special hormone called insulin and regulates the blood sugar called glucose in our body. The imbalance of the hormone in the body can easily be connected with the obesity which is dependent on the consumption of the sugary foods throughout the day. The extra sugar consumed in a day is stored as a fat in the body by insulin which leads to weight gain. The easiest way to know about the condition is by a simple blood test and consulting your doctor. In order to avoid the condition, avoid processed foods, alcohol, aerated and artificially sweetened drinks. Start drinking about 3 to 4 liters of water in a day that will maintain the sugar levels in your body.

Leptin – Most of us are not aware of the hormone but it is the hormone which indicates the quantity of food your body requires in a day. Under the normal conditions, the hormone will give you the signal that you are full and now you have to stop eating. The production of Leptin gets affected due to overconsumption of sugary and processed foods, and oversupply of fructose which gets converted into fat and usually deposited in the liver, belly, and other parts of the body. Once the quantity of the fats increases, they calls to secrete Leptin in the higher number and eventually, it leads brain to stop receiving the signals to eat less. To prevent the condition, start getting proper sleep, eat in small quantities, and try to keep your body hydrated.

Ghrelin – This is the hormone which is also called the hunger hormone that stimulates the appetite, thereby increasing the deposition of fat in the body. It is mainly produced by the stomach but the small amount is also secreted by the small intestine, brain, and pancreas. The higher number of ghrelin in your body is directly related to the weight gain as obese people are more sensitive to this hormone. Trying to be more active and eating regularly will help you to stay away from the condition.

Oestrogen – Oestrogen is the hormone which is produced by the ovarian cells of the women and need to be normal as both high and low levels of the hormone is harmful for the body. Whenever the levels of the hormone are imbalanced, the body starts converting the available source of energy into fats which leads to weight gain. To avoid the condition, avoid the consumption of processed foods, meat, alcohol, and be active.
