Whether it is air pollution, noise pollution or even water pollution, there has been a constant threat to the humankind. These factors not only hinder the way of living, but also cause problems to the health. The best example of the situation is the months after the Diwali, when the capital region suffers from the effects of air pollution. As per doctors, breathing the polluted air was equivalent to smoking 2 packs of cigarettes in a day. Due to the worse weather conditions, the state government also issued holidays for the children till the 6 class for almost 20 days.
The main reason behind air pollution is the presence of carbon dioxide and sulphur dioxide in the atmosphere. All the vehicles and heavy machinery are responsible for the bad quality of air as through the atmosphere, these gases enter the body and affect the lungs. Pollution is the main cause behind many health problems in humans which include respiratory problems and even asthma. As per studies, many heart diseases are also linked with the pollution, as the air that we breathe in contains high quantity of carbon dioxide and less amount of oxygen which interrupts the functionality of many organs including heart.
But, you can take precautions as there are a number of ways by which you can prevent yourself from pollution and the best solution is Ayurveda. There are different foods that you can include in our diet to reduce the effects of the pollution and also help to heal the body naturally.
Turmeric – Turmeric has an important role to play in the Indian kitchen as it has been used in most of the meals that we prepare in a day. It is a source of anti-oxidant properties that will help to fight the free radicals of the body and will protect the lungs and keep them healthy. People who are suffering from asthma can also consume turmeric on daily basis as it is anti-inflammatory too. It also helps in fighting the signs of ageing and reducing the effects of pollutant in the body.
Ginger – There are number of studies which prove that with the constant exposure to the air pollution, you can increases the risk of cancer in the body. Ginger is known to be rich in anti-inflammatory properties which will help you fight cancer-causing agents. The regular consumption increases the blood flow in the body which increases the blood’s ability to absorb oxygen. Neem – Air pollution is not limited to the area as most part of the air that we breathe while being indoors is also polluted. Like any other plants, Neem plant will purify the air around us and once the plant will start to grow in size, you can plant it in your garden for the constant supply of unpolluted air. Tulsi – Just like Neem, Tulsi is also known to be the great air purifier and a common plant in most of the Hindus family. One can also consume the raw leaves of Tulsi or drink the Tulsi tea which will help to clear the respiratory tracts in the body.
Pomegranate Juice – For years, pomegranate juice is known for the cell regeneration that can improve the heart’s health and also reduce the risk of cancer in the body. As the production of red blood cells is increased, it will also boost the immunity of the body. Due to its property of cell regeneration in the body, the pollutants present in the air will not be able to affect the lungs and heart.
